Growing up only with cats, I never imagined that I'd be living on
a farm someday raising 'big animals' but I used to dream about having
them. I always loved the camel section at the zoo and couldn't get
over
how big and beautiful their eyes were...or how silly their sleeping
position was.
I can now understand why Marty McGee-Bennett likens alpacas to cats,
there
are so many similarities between the two creatures; I now have a
herd of both! I was raised primarily in Florida,
went to art school in Seattle, Mexico and California. While in CA, I worked for
several years in the travel industry and did graphic design on the
side. In my late 20's, I started a hand-painted fabric business, designing
furniture and clothing, and moved that up to Vermont
in 1990. Having always loved photography, I changed my course and
started a new business in 1992 and have
been shooting weddings, portraits, animals and various events
throughout New England ever since....I'm
especially passionate about photographing alpacas!
In 2004, I began
to long for something in addition to what I was doing that involved
animals and after several farm visits, I realized that alpacas 'were
it'. After attending several shows and reading about these animals
voraciously, I was hooked, and soon collaborated with Lesley. With
my 15 years of experience as a photographer and three years of handling
alpacas, I am able to offer my skills and services to your farm to
provide images for your website, booth or store. I also design custom-made
albums that can be used to display your herd information or as coffee-table
books for visitors.
There's nothing like ending the day with a rest in the pasture
or barn to watch them pronk or to simply listen to their humming
and munching of hay. Alpacas are so peaceable, gentle, humorous and
wise....they teach us so much; how fortunate we are to have them
in our lives.
